Mission Statement

  • The library is an essential part of students' academic and emotional growth. The Pinecrest Elementary School's Media Center strives to support all students in finding a love for learning, reading, and critical thinking. Our center wants students and staff to be lifelong learners, readers, and thinkers.

  • Within the library, our mission is accomplished by granting access to materials, implementing instruction that promotes interest in reading and using information, furnishing a variety of resources that appeal to individual students, and providing opportunities for student creativity with technology and hands-on activities.

  • The library works to develop the 21st Century Learning Skills of collaboration, cooperation, digital citizenship, and global learning.

The Pinecrest website has links to outside sources that have been reviewed for their educational content and appropriateness. Even though these sites have been evaluated, the contents of the World Wide Web are ever-changing. It is impossible to be assured of the suitability of every link.  There are also safeguards in the Sylacauga City Schools that you may not have at home.  Parents should review the sites before children play these games at home.
